Zhongguancun International Frontier Science and Technology Innovation Contest aims to openly select a group of internationally leading frontier technology projects and innovation-oriented companies from around the world to improve the level of cutting-edge technology innovation ability in the Zhongguancun Demonstration Zone and to accelerate the construction of Beijing International Technology Innovation Center by promoting the implementation of projects. Since its establishment in 2017, the contest has received strong supports from the Ministry of Education, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, Peking University, China Association for Science and Technology, and Asset Management Association of China.
Zhongguancun International Frontier Science and Technology Innovation Contest has gradually developed into an influential hard technology competition brand at home and abroad for the following reasons.
First is that the contest has collected a number of internationally leading cutting-edge technologies that have disruptive influence. For example, major breakthroughs have been made in the transformation of drug research and development paradigm, the underlying framework of artificial intelligence, and the autonomous controllability of high-end chips.
Second, the contest has become the "cradle" of the technology-based unicorn enterprises in Beijing. 17 companies including Megvii Technology and Horizon have grown into unicorns. 7 companies including Innocare Pharma Limited are listed on domestic and overseas exchanges, and more than a dozen of overseas and foreign projects have been launched in Beijing.
The third is that the technologies and products selected by the contest are widely used. More than 70% of the technologies and products from the cutting-edge companies have been applied in major projects and activities such as the World Horticultural Exposition, Daxing International Airport, and the Winter Olympics, and these technologies and products have promoted the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries.
2021 Zhongguancun International Frontier Science and Technology Innovation Contest was launched on July 15 with the theme of "Leading Frontier Technology and Powering the Digital Economy". Following the latest international technological trends, the contest solicits nearly 1000 projects in 12 key areas such as biomedicine, artificial intelligence, and integrated circuits. Among them are some international projects from the United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Singapore, Japan and other countries.
About SEETRUM Hyperspectral Imaging Silicon Optical Chip Project: The project is derived from the snapshot CMOS hyperspectral imaging chip technology developed by the Micro-Nano Optoelectronics Laboratory of Tsinghua University. it can reduce the volume and price of spectral detection/imaging products by 99% while its imaging speed could be increased by more than 100 times. Its performance of various indicators is at the leading level in the industry and it is can be mass-produced for it is more compatible with the current mature CMOS technology.
