About the Chinese Optical Sociey

The Chinese Optical Society is a non-governmental academic organization composing of scientific and technological workers in the fields of optics and optical engineering in China. It aims to unite scientists at home and abroad to promote and realize the development of science and technology in the field of optics and optical engineering. Held in Beijing on December 10, 1979, the society was initiated and held by Wang Daheng, Gong Zutong, Qian Linzhao. At that time, it was under the Third Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 1980, it was under the China Association for Science and Technology. The society got its leading institutions through democratic elections. Up to now, eight councils have been elected, with Yan Jici and Wang Daheng serving as honorary chairmen, and Wang Daheng, Mu Guoguang, Zhou Bingkun, Guo Guangcan, and Gong Qihuang serving as chairman.

At present, the society has established 22 professional committees and 8 working committees, with more than 15,000 individual members. Since its establishment, the society has built close cooperation with major optical international organizations. Since 1987, the Chinese Optical Society has become a member of the International Commission for Optics (ICO). Besides, the Chinese Optical Society has established long-term cooperative relations with the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE), the Optical Society of America (OSA), the European Optical Society (EOS), Optical Society of Japan (OSJ), and the Optical Society of Korea (OSK), etc.

At the same time, the Chinese Optical Society has sponsored many well-known academic books in the field of optics at home and abroad, such as "Chinese Laser", "Acta Optics", "Chinese Optics Letters", "Optical Engineering", "Frontiers of Optoelectronics", "Light: Science & Applications", etc.

About SEETRUM

SEETRUM is a high-tech entrepreneurial company that is committed to the transformation of Tsinghua University's research achievements. SEETRUM sets its goal to lead the development of global spectrum chip and achieve the coverage of spectral perception. Led by a Special-term Professor from Changjiang Scholars Program, SEETRUM initially created metasurface spectral sensor, which enjoys high precision, low cost and mass production, saying goodbye to large-scale and expensive existing spectral detection equipment that only supports scanning imaging. It is no doubt that the new chip will charter a new way for industries like consumer electronics, medical diagnosis, machine vision, and environmental monitoring etc.
